With Algeria there is “excellent coordination on the fight against illegal immigration and the management of migratory flows ” said, among other things, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in joint statements with Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune , at the fifth intergovernmental summit between the two countries , underlining “another agreement, signed today, on cooperation in the respective SAR areas”.

"There is therefore a dual task," Meloni explained: "On the one hand, we are addressing the root causes of migration, and on the other, we are working to prevent the human trafficking mafia from prevailing over the rule of law and sovereign states. Algeria is absolutely a partner in this," and there is "extremely important cooperation" between the two countries.
